What is MyMiniStudio?

MyMiniStudio is a purpose-built digital miniature painting studio that runs in your web browser, on iPad, and on Android. It recreates the tools and techniques of physical mini painting in software so you can build, undercoat, paint, base, photograph, and share 3D miniatures anywhere. No paints, no brushes, no cleanup.

How much does MyMiniStudio cost?

MyMiniStudio is currently in a free private beta. Approved testers get access at no cost. Pricing for the public release will be announced closer to launch.

What devices does MyMiniStudio work on?

It runs in any modern web browser on Mac and PC with nothing to install, and there are purpose-built apps for iPad and Android tablets. You can start a miniature on one device and continue on another.

Do I need a stylus or drawing tablet?

No. The core painting experience works on a plain trackpad or mouse. That said, an Apple Pencil, a third-party tablet stylus, or a drawing tablet like a Wacom on Mac or PC gives you finer control and makes the experience even better.

What painting techniques does MyMiniStudio support?

All the techniques painters already know: zenithal priming, layering, washes, drybrushing, speed paints, stippling, and a built-in airbrush for controlled blends. Techniques layer and compose together the way real paint does.

You paint from a large library of colors and finishes including washes, speed paints, fluorescents, pigments, and varnishes, plus basing materials like tufts, plants, and rocks.

Can I import my own 3D models and STL files?

Yes. You can import your own miniatures and 3D printing models. MyMiniStudio supports 3MF, GLB, STL, and OBJ files, so the sculpts already in your collection can be painted digitally.

Can I 3D print the models I paint?

Yes. Once you're happy with a paint scheme, you can 3D print your model in color and bring your digital paint job into the physical world.

Is MyMiniStudio a realistic paint simulator?

Not exactly. MyMiniStudio aims to capture the feel of physical miniature painting rather than run a literal physics simulation. The goal is that every tool behaves the way a painter expects. A wash settles into recesses, a drybrush catches raised edges, an airbrush lays down smooth blends, and you never have to think about how the software models it.

Who is MyMiniStudio for?

Everyone who loves the hobby. New painters can practice techniques and build confidence before buying supplies. Experienced painters can test army color schemes or plan a competition piece with zero risk. Sculptors and model makers can shoot marketing renders of their work. And parents and kids can share a paint session anywhere, with no setup or mess.

Do I need to know how to paint miniatures already?

No. MyMiniStudio is designed to be easy and intuitive, so complete beginners can open it and feel at home within minutes, while experienced painters get the depth and control they expect.

How do I join the beta, and when does it launch?

MyMiniStudio is in private beta now, with open-access beta beginning in the second half of August 2026. To join, sign up on the beta signup page. Testers are invited in small waves and gather in a private Discord to share work and shape what gets built.

Who makes MyMiniStudio?

MyMiniStudio is built by Ashley and Vik, a wife-and-husband team of lifelong miniature hobbyists. Vik has a background in 3D programming. They built the digital painting tool they wanted for themselves and their family. Read more about us.
